St. Patricks Day Parade
That was the St. Patrick's Day , and Mr. Man was going to talk with few people in the city for his tea business. ( those who wants to buy pure darjeeling tea, please visit: www.freshcarton.com). I also wanted to go with him, because my plan was to watch the parade there. I’ve never been in SFO to watch any parade. So, I wanted to have an experience on that. Though it was a Saturday, but it was extremely busy for me unlike other Saturdays. Actually I invited a family for dinner Saturday evening.
Anyway, I finished cooking in the morning, so that I could go with tension free mind. It was a wise decision to finish cooking in the morning , afterward I realized. We started early, as Mr. Man had an appointment with Crown and Crumpet in Japan Town around 11:00. We had a little time in my hand while they were talking with the owner. Also, one table was unoccupied for forty-five minutes, so the owner’s wife invited me for a little tea time. I would write about it in another post.
After having one delicious cake and tea, Mr. Man dropped us near the parade area. Where my son and I stood was not much crowded.
However, few minutes later I realized we stood on the wrong spot. We were standing from where the floats and performer were starting. Few hundred feet away the performance was going on where evening peeking was not possible. As long as the military, firefighters , marines were coming, my son was watching with keen interest. As soon as other performer started coming he lost his interest. The poor little guy couldn’t watch what actually going on. On the top of the he was more interested in visiting SFO library.
Mr. Man yet to finish his work, so both of us went to library. He was left open-mouthed seeing the vastness of the library. We went to the children section. In the meantime Mr. Man called , and told me that he was coming to pick us. I told him which street we were standing.
Wow! When we came out from the library, at that very moment the parade was finished and the crowd started moving. That day, I really saw how crazy people can be. I was cursing myself for taking such a stupid decision of going to city. Mr. Man stuck in the traffic, moreover most of the streets were closed near the parade area, and he was circling from outside in vein to come nearby to pick us. Then he asked us to go nearby the City hall. He gave us direction, and we stood on a crossroad and keep a hawk’s eye on the street. There was no way to park the car, Traffic was almost not moving, we just ran to the car, and hurriedly jumped inside. We came back home around 4:30 , whereas our plan was to come back at 2.
