Walking across Golden Gate Bridge
We were thinking of going hiking somewhere. Mr. Man wanted to go somewhere in San Francisco. Whatever, trail I suggested, he just dismissed all of them stating those are very easy to hike. At last he suggested walking across Golden Gate Bridge. We crossed the bridge numerous times by car, but never on foot. So, Mr. Man wanted to get that experience, though I was not that much kin to do that.
Anyway, it was a lazy Sunday. As usual we started from home very late. On the top of that, there was traffic snarl on Bay Bridge. When we reached near Golden Gate it was way past 12:00. Anyway, thanks to the San Francisco weather, it was little bit cloudy and chilly. So, the midday didn’t matter. We parked our near Fort Winfield. There were few old buildings, which one was Fort Winfield, I couldn’t figure out. Even after searching on Internet I couldn’t find much about the Fort. So, if anyone knows about the fort, please share information about it.
We started towards the bridge crossing the Sutro hiking. The place was very crowded. It was a Sunday, and being a tourist destination, one cannot expect tranquility or quietness . We took our jacket with us, so the cold didn’t bother us. Keeping the blue-green Pacific Ocean one side and steam of whooshing cars another side we started our walking of the day. I tried to concentrate on the ocean side, as the buzzing sound was bothering me a lot. Although I know, expecting calmness beside a busy bridge is ridiculous. Still, the mind wanted some relax walk in the woods. On the other hand, cool breeze coming off the ocean gave us relief, though time to time we had to take care of our hat. From the top we could see the people were sailing their boats. In the meantime suddenly we heard a buzzing sound over head. We looked up, and saw a red colored helicopter were circling around. I’m mentioning it here specially, because it reminded me the movies “Inferno”. Could remember that very scene ?
The walk was good, but if you want a relaxed walk never, ever try this hike. However, if you want to cross the bridge on foot just go ahead, it is a different experience.

Like you we've driven it many times, but we've never walked it, too touristy.
I agree with you.. I won't go second time.. :D
Krishna, years ago we walked to the center of the Golden Gate with my parents and my young daughter. I must say it frightened me a lot. You have some lovely views, but it was quite scary to me. ♥
You do have some lovely view from your walk on the bridge!
wow Golden Bridge I would like to see it personally
Beautiful place as it clicked beautifully .
I am following you plz follow me. https://clickbystyle.blogspot.in/
I have never been to San Francisco and I did not know you could walk the Golden Gate Bridge. It sounds like an experience, but I too am not too keen on the traffic. Perhaps it can be done with ear defenders so you can pretend the traffic is not there... Thank you for sharing! Anna x
Walking the bridge you can at least stop and admire those beautiful views!
Have a wonderful day :)
It looks beautiful. I'm not sure I could have done it though, I get scared even driving over small bridges, let alone one as big as the Golden Gate.
I walked it once....as far as the north tower and back. It was fun. Something to check off the bucket list. I was wondering if the helicopter was 'The Bright Red KGO Jetcopter'. lol Maybe KGO doesn't use that anymore but they did when I lived there. You should walk around the old military defense batteries in the Presidio, that's much quieter.
About 20 years ago, I drove across that bridge. It was a white knuckle drive. Then I saw the movie "San Andreas." That did it.
Thanks for the photos - beautiful views I never knew existed.
Beautiful place:) anazing photos:*
Great photos!
I never drive by myself.. I always depend on my husband..:)
Thanks a lot Jojo.. I'll do that.. Presidio is too beautiful..
I'm scared to drive in SFO.. I never drive there by myself.. plain land is for me.. ;)
Beautiful shots of in and around the bridge.
Interesting post dear! thanks for sharing xx
A great achievement, thanks for sharing the photos as it is something that I will not be able to do. Stuning views.
I would love to drive across this bridge. Beautiful pictures and thank you for sharing.
I'm with you. I'd rather take a nice, long walk in the woods where it is serene and the air is fresh rather than hiking across a bridge with car exhaust all around. At least you had a nice ocean view and now you can say you've done it. Next time to the woods you go! :)
I like these views.
I'm not sure I would be up to hiking across the Golden Gate Bridge, but I did enjoy the views that you captured.
I've always wanted to photograph the Golden Gate Bridge! Yes, I'm sure it's noisy to walk it but worth the walk over and back. Thanks for sharing your journey. It's quite hot here in Oregon as well. We've got smoke in the air so close that you can taste it when you are outside within a minute! Praying for rain as there's so many fires here and in other states. Then there's the flood in TX and LA. Sigh! Thanks for posting on my blog post. Come back soon and maybe be a follower? Have a good holiday weekend. https://grandmabeckyl.blogspot.com
Photographing the Golden Gate Bridge and walking on it is one of my bucket list items!
That's neat. I don't like heights, and when I used to live there I hated driving over it. Though it probably is the best built bridge in the Bay Area. There is a bus stop, probably still three on the south side going north, when they had the former toll booths. It was extremely noisy.
