Route 66 resturant

In my previous post I wrote that we found out a very unusual place. The place was inside a small alley. I saw from across the street that a model of a car that seemed to be emerging by the borealis the wall on the top of a door. First thing came in my mind was museum. I wanted to visit there. Then I saw the word, “Restaurant.” We couldn’t figured out whether it was restaurant or museum. I sent Mr. Man to enquire. He went inside , and came out within second, and told me that was a museum, and he had no will to visit. But I was skeptical. I wanted to go inside again.
Wow! What I saw inside really looked like a museum, but it was a restaurant. A real restaurant, where people were eating delicious dishes.

Carmel Day 2- Porta Bella Restaurant

After visiting the Murphy’s house we all realized that our stomach had been rumbling. Carmel was a heaven of all exotic restaurants. Mr. Man took  the responsibility to finding a good one, where every one of us could get their desired food. At that moment we were on Ocean Avenue, and he found out a French Restaurant, Porta Bella on Ocean Avenue.

Carmel Day 1 -Yafa Resturant

As I told you that my house was getting remodeled, and just before Christmas we got our house back. So, the Christmas was super busy, from cleaning the house to arranging everything. In the mean time, Mr. Man arranged a small trip to Carmel. The plan was to start from home around noon on 23rd December. However, I had been still cleaning and arranging things around till 12 in the noon.  Anyway, after finishing all cooking, eating, cleaning, arranging we at last depart from home around 2 in the afternoon. When we reached Carmel, it was already dark. I couldn’t see anything. I felt that Mr. Man parked the car on some one’s driveway. He told me that he parked car on roadside, and he needed to go on foot to find our inn, where we were gong to stay for next two nights . Anyway, he parked the car on the front road of the inn. After finishing all the work at the office we luckily got a parking spot on the inn’s parking space, as that was the last one left. *smile*

Bhajahari Manna

We heard the name of this restaurant before. My hubby’s aim was to have food in every famous restaurant in Kolkata. So, one day when we went to Gariahat , he suggested having lunch there. We went to a small branch of the restaurant. So, the ambience was not appealing. It looked like very small and ordinary restaurant. Anyway, my hubby literally jumped on his feet when he was told that ‘Chital maach’ (a kind of fish) was available. He ordered for ‘Chital macher petir jhaal’. I also felt like having Hilsa. So I ordered ‘shorshe ilish’ ( hilsa with mustard paste). Bengali lunch should have one daal( lentil) and vegetable curry. So, we ordered for moong daal( yellow lentil) and one vegetable curry. We were served in a very simple manner. However, when we tasted the food, we couldn’t speak any word. It was so delicious that I felt like having more and more fish.  The chital maach tasted awesome. After a long I tasted hilsa and it filled my mind.
I can go back there as many times I can manage.

Eating out at madly corwded Haldirams'

The big Haldirams’ shop and restaurant always attracts me since I first saw that near Ballygange Place. I wanted to eat out there for a long time. Being a strict non-vegetarian my hubby usually avoids the place. Lastly, I gave requesting him to go there.
The Crowd

One day, when I was bit angry, he suggested going there. As usual I simply rejected his plan. Anyway, after few days I agreed to go there, and we decided to have dinner in the same place. From outside everything was very normal when we went there. Even the ground floor was quite empty. I had been anticipating a spicy dinner until we reach the first floor. It was a hard blow on my face when I entered there. I couldn’t even think of such a crowd till the last step of the escalator. Usually,I don’t have any patience. I promptly told my hubby to leave the place. He is a very cool person. He asked me to wait. We started running from one end to another to get a table. It was like the play musical-chair. We decided to go two different directions, and who would get first would call another. At last my hubby literally grab one table, and we sat at it. My hubby went to stand in the long queue to get our food. I wanted to have chole bhature and he went for chaat. We ordered sandwich for our son, but he didn’t want to give a bite at all. Anyway, the food was good, but we couldn’t enjoy that. I enjoyed the madness of the crowd rather than the food. Moreover, our son disturbed so much that, we just gulped the food rushed out from there. I was just overwhelmed by the madding crowd.
Father-son duo

I have doubt in my mind that whether I’ll go there second time.

Ben Fish !!!

Long back when I had been studying in school first Ben Fish came in market. One day after coming back from the office, my father told us about the eatery. The department of Fisheries (WB govt.) runs eatery; had created a soft corner among the fish loving Bengalis (Bengalis are world-wide famous for their affection towards fish) soon after they came in market.  My father used to tell us that his colleagues thronged there during lunch-time. Anyway, the funniest thing was that I had never tasted any of the items until today.
Anyway, today evening three of us went out to take a stroll. I asked my husband about our evening snacks. However, instead of suggesting anything, my husband asked me in turn. I couldn’t suggest anything after giving much thought. Suddenly, we saw a Ben Fish car outside a Shopping complex. Almost simultaneously we suggested each other going there. We literally rushed to the car. However, there was not much items left. Among the few items we chose fish fry and butter fish fry. Then we went to sit on the stairs of a nearby theater hall, and enjoyed thoroughly the two dishes. Yuum yuum yuum, delicious!!!!.
Suddenly in the middle of the road when you feel hungry, you can easily go for Ben Fish. I hope you can really enjoy that.

Snacks at ‘The French Loaf’

My son stays at school for an hour only. So, I use to wait outside the school during that time. I usually spend the time either reading books or talking with my friends. Yesterday while chatting with one of my friends, whose daughter is my son’s classmate, told me about a swimming class. After coming home I suggested putting our son to swimming class, and my husband readily agreed with me. In the evening we went there.  While coming back my husband suggested walking for some time. We walked towards Survey Park. On the way we saw the restaurant ‘The French Loaf’.  We saw the restaurant many times before. Especially at the time of going to my mom’s home I use to see the same restaurant.
My husband wanted to have evening snacks there. I was also feeling hungry, so, I didn’t object. That was the first we went inside the shop. The ambiance of the shop was very good.  The sweet aroma of baking increased my appetite.   It was difficult to find out something from many mouthwatering foods. However, my only criterion was to have something light. So, I went for chicken puff. My husband wanted to try Tex-Mex Chicken Croissant. My son, who is an avid fan of sweet desperately wanted have pineapple short cake, without knowing the taste. Actually there was one bright red cherry on the top of the cake. Only by the look my son wanted to eat that. Anyway, when I put the cherry in his mouth, he didn’t like the taste, so, my husband and I finished the cake at last, after many failed attempts to feed him the same. Anyway, both the savories were really delicious. A big cup of coffee with patties in a cool and quite place really made us to forget, at least for some moments, all the problems in life. We took our own time to sit there, nobody was there asked to leave us. We sat for a long time and thoroughly enjoyed our snacks. The big cup of coffee reminded me the Starbuck coffee chain back to the USA. For few moments I missed Starbucks before giving a sip in the coffee. Anyway, that half an hour we enjoyed a lot. Though I wanted to for some time more, but my son became too impatient to stay there. So, we left the restaurant.
Although the restaurant is little bit costly, but going there some times is really worthy to uplift mood.
