Landscaping time 3

Beside planting some little annuals, I didn’t work much in the garden. I had few of the plants left to be planted. For that I needed to dig hole. As I told you, California native soil is very heavy and tight. I don’t have that much strength to dig big holes. So, I waited for the weekend. We planted all the rest of the plant. As it is already getting hotter, it was not wise to keep them in the small pots. The disadvantage of keeping the plants in small pots is that watering requires every day. Even we need to water the pots twice on hot days.

Anyway, though it is not looking that full right now, as all the plants are still small. However, in course of timeI think it’ll look much fuller. In the end of the work, we really felt accomplished. We are just common people. We don’t have much knowledge about landscaping. Though the garden may look amateurish, but at least we did it ourselves.

We are eagerly waiting for the next season to our full garden.

Krishna, I think your garden will look amazing. It is hard having to wait for all the plants to grow but once they do, it will be beautiful and does not look as it will be alot of maintenance..Thank you for your visit. I am always fearful that my garden won't come back as it looks so awful in the winter, but it always has, so far..Happy Tuesday..Judy

Wow -- I'm impressed! Is that a lemon tree? I'd die for lemon tree!

I know what you mean about those small pots. Even in Michigan they require daily watering till well planted. It looks great!

Gardening is such a pleasure, isn't it? I love to garden. It's a good idea to amend the soil with paydirt or compost - easier to work with (it loosens the hard soil) and more nutritious for the plant. I have seen a big difference when I did that. I've planted a lot of native plants since most of them are drought resistant - I water about once a week, a bit more often when it is really hot. Usually I plant in the fall so the plants get established over the winter, but it's hard to resist in the spring (and I can't...).

It will fill in sooner than you think. Hard work you and your husband are doing and plants are so expensive I have found lately at our local garden centers. I can't imagine growing lemons, I think that looks so neat. Fine job and I hope you keep taking pictures and posting as your garden grows.

Lucky you to get the planting done. We can't plant outside here after Memorial Day for fear of frost or a light freeze. We had snow this last week-UGH. I hope you have a great week, Krishna. Have a wonderful day. xo Diana
