Five on Friday

Monday:

The spring break had started from today. However, we were going to be very busy through out the week. Before last Friday , I was really concerned how to spend the week, as kiddie would be at home. He was going to be bored whole day. When he came back home from school, he showed me a small booklet about a project they had to do. It came to me like the moon from the sky.  I didn’t need to scratch my head to find new things to keep him busy.

His teacher had given them a history project. For that project we had to visit some particular places, and to answer some questions.
Today we went to  see a mural, where the history of the valley was written with pictures. There were five to six murals, where we found that who were the actual people lived, before the Europeans came. We also learned when the first post office, the first school was established, and when the first railroad was laid. It took a little while as my son wrote all the answers in his booklet. Then we headed to the library. He was  eagerly waiting to get a “Wimpy Kid” books. He already finished most of them, only few to go. To his utter disappointment, he didn’t get a single “Wimpy Kid” book. So he rented some different books . It took us more than half of the day. So, I didn’t have to think much, what he could do.

Tuesday:

Today we went to visit Alamo cemetery. In his assignment , he had to visit some particular graves of the pioneers, and to write down their birth and death date. Most of them we found on the main path, except one. I tried to find out the last one, and this guy was running around. I was little bit scared, as the cemetery was totally empty except two of us. Then I told him that he should respect those people who were lying there by keeping the silence. After that we visited two plaques nearby, from where he had to answer another few questions. From the we came to know that the first person who came in the valley, named Pedro, who tried to find out some route from SFO to cross the bay. Again we went to a nearby park, where another plaques was kept to tribute respect to the Tatcun tribes who lived in the valley. That was our history tour today. We came back home totally exhausted.

Wednesday:
We had a very busy day today. I had to do all the chores, on the top of the both mom and son had swimming classes on different time. So, we decided to go to the near by museum for his project work. Somehow, since morning I was feeling in tired. Anyway, we visited the museum, but the museum was not opened. Anyway, he could do his project work from the board kept outside of the museum. As we couldn't enter the museum, we didn’t take much time at the museum premises. We came back home, and again we went to his swimming class. I came back from there with a severe headache. After coming back I just couldn’t do any more work.

Thursday:
Though our plan to visit two parks for the ongoing project, but I cancelled the plan, as I was feeling tired. In fact I decided to have rest the whole day. I did not much things, but sewed a bag from  Mr. Man’s jeans. The weather was also very bad. The sky was grumpy since morning. In the evening, the weather became worse. The it started raining heavily, with heavy storm. The wind was literally howling. The raindrops were thrashing the doors, and windows. Once I opened slightly  the front door, to peek outside. The trees were swinging vigorously. The wind almost pushed me back. Somehow, I managed to close the door. Sometimes, we were fearing that the garage door would come off. Anyway, around eleven in the night, the storm stopped. We sighed in great relief.

Friday:
It was another busy Friday. From cooking, cleaning, mopping, doing laundry I just didn’t get time to breath. When I finished everything, it was already 4 in the evening. I had plan to start making some cards for Mother’s Day, but I was too tired to sit. On the top of that kiddo was at home. I also had to give some time to him. Moreover, the weather was not good, since morning the sky was dark gray. I didn’t feel to go out of the house, though kiddo wanted to visit one museum nearby. At last I could convince him that we would visit the museum another day.

I love your bag. What a wonderful way to recycle old jeans. Sounds like a really interesting week. Glad you were able to have a fun time learning about something new.

Happy Five on Friday!

Sounds as if your son has a great teacher. I still regret that I didn't write a letter to my 6th grade teacher to tell her what a wonderful inspiration she was for me. Sometimes life just keeps us so busy, we don't get around to the really important things.

Sorry to hear you have been tired and had a headache. Maybe the stormy weather caused your head to hurt. Sounds like your son's project is coming along nicely. I enjoyed your pictures. You have some pretty plants and I like the blue jean bag. I look forward to you showing us your Mother's Day cards when you make them.

Wow you sure had a busy week! But I bet it's interesting to visit places like that old cemetery. I heard that storm really hit the Pacific NW hard on Friday too.

I like that his teacher gave them an assignment for the break. And history is a great way to learn about the area and be engaged with learning. Sounds like you had some lovely outings. Hope you are feeling better. And that the weather has settled down.
