Landscaping time 1

Since long we have been thinking to making our front yard as well as backyard something different. We created many blueprint by ourselves in last couple of years. However, we couldn’t materialized our plan. The last blueprint was lying idly on the bottom of table for long time until I threw it away. Actually, I thought we had more copies of the plan. On the top of that we had been doing noting.

Anyway, all of a sudden one day Mr. Man jumped on his feet and declared we were going to beautify our front yard within this month. And, he asked for the blueprints, which he made several copies. I could see the danger at that very moment. I sat down quietly on the couch swinging my leg. He rummaged all over. After he finished, I revealed the truth. The most lovely personality trait he has, that he never gets angry.

He told me that, now that was my responsibility to make the design. I made a rough design. He gave all the responsibilities from choosing the plants to ordering. However, I had my full confidence that he would eventually help me  out. We chose the stones, the plants, and all other necessary things. Our occasional gardener did the pipe system. As it was plumbing, Mr. Man didn’t want to do by himself.

Then the late California rain started , and we had to delay our project. After ordering all the flagstones, dirt, manure we were debating whether to do everything by ourselves or to hire someone. We talked with our very gardener, but he didn’t have time on the weekend when we wanted to finish making the path by putting the stones. I suggested him , just to try once.

Yes, on the past weekend  we worked on our front yard almost whole day to make the planned paths. We did it all by ourselves. From digging the trench to making the making path to putting the stones, we did everything. The most astonishing fact is that most of the stones weigh more that 120 pounds. Carrying those stones was a very serious matter. And we finished the paths. I’m really feeling very proud of ourselves. Even my little one also helped us to dig the trench. The most heavy job has been done. Hopefully, we can do rest of the works also.

Here I’m posting our gradual progress. Hope all of you will enjoy that.

The stone path I like. This is a lot of work and like you said the heavy stones having to move around will be tiring for sure. I never could come up with a blue print of any sort how I would like something. I wish I could. You have a nice foundation for plants and walkways. I look forward to seeing it as you move along with it. The dirt looks good and rich too.

Dearest Krishna,
Wow, kudos to all of you in the family that pitched in to do the messy and heavy work.
We both have done so in our garden in the early 90s... Hard to believe how it once looked! But it is oh so rewarding.
Nasty if the rain is interfering with our plans but it always happens at the wrong time.
Sending you hugs and wishing for a good weekend, whatever your plans are.

Krishna, you are doing a wonderful job and it is going to be so pretty. You have gotten off to a good start and looks like you work pretty quickly. We are always so slow at our tasks. We need to start some more landscaping jobs and hope to get to them before it gets too hot..Happy Weekend..Judy and thanks for your visit.

Working together as a team can accomplish more than if working alone. Once it is all done, you can sit back and enjoy your hard work. Looking forward for more updates.
