Driving from Conway to Stowe

After saying goodbye to the little village hotel in north Conway, we headed towards Stowe, Vermont. We drove through the roads of little downtown of north Conway. However, we didn’t have much time in hand to  get down there. On our way, again we crossed White Mountain.

Today, the weather was better, sun started shinning , though not bright. We drove on the narrow roads where bright yellow colored trees bent down in such a way over the road , that it made a yellow colored leaves portal.
While driving we came to a completely flat area surrounded with mountains. One side of the road was a calm pond with clear water. To see the pond we got down and stood there.

That was a great feeling. The cool slow breeze was giving a shiver, but the serenity of the place didn’t let us bother that. I stood there for few minutes, it gave me a great inner peace.

Across the street I saw Willey house. We didn’t have any plan to visit any museum, though kiddo insisted me to go there. Later I found out that a tragedy is associated with house. In 1826, New England faced a severe drought in August ,which was ended by a storm and subsequent flooding.  In that house lived the Willey family. After the storm, when the rescuers came there, they only found an empty house with things as it was, like unmade bed, opened Bible. They thought every one could escape the mishap. However, after further search they found the dead bodies of few family members, and two children were never found. However, due to the position of the house it remained unscratched. After that tragedy the place became a tourist attraction.

Anyway, we again started our driving. Suddenly we heard a roaring sound of water, and followed by a breathtaking view of a waterfall , Silver Cascade. Water was falling from a great hight from boulder to boulder making a cascade form. Luckily , we got a parking space near the falls. We had to cross the road to go near the fall.

Kiddo got excited so much that it was difficult for me to hold him. We went near the falls, and kiddo scampered up on the mountain. We had no time to hike to the top, though I really wanted to do. Kiddo didn’t want hike down, he was standing up and asked me to go up. Anyway, again we started our journey.

Leaving behind Crawford Notch State park in White Mountain we started to drive on the freeway towards Vermont. It was another long drive, which was going to take almost the whole day. Our plan was to visit the near by places where we about to stay at night.
The sky started clearing up slowly. The soft sun popped up the colors in the trees.

Again from the little towns, we came on the freeway, where we could see miles after miles only different colors. In Maine in didn’t see any cows. When we reached Vermont we could see cows were grazing on bright green pastures every where. May be Vermont has many dairy farms. As we crossed the border we saw the visitor center of Vermont.

It was already a long time we left north Conway, we needed some refreshments. Vermont Visitor center offered free coffee to all. That was very nice gesture. I was craving for coffee. I jumped and took a cup of coffee, and other information brochures before starting again.

The highways were almost deserted. Sometime we could little cottages from the freeway. Other wise we saw trees everywhere. The fall color were so vibrant, we didn’t feel tired after seeing colors for past few days. Rather, we wanted to see more and more colors as we drove towards Moss Glenn fall, which was our next destination.
